Camille Pissarro

I noted in an earlier post that some paintings of Camille Pissarro really struck us. So I looked up some info on him on Wikipedia.

Known as the Father of Impressionism, he painted rural French life, particularly landscapes and workers in the fields as well as scenes from Montmartre. He then went to Paris to teach, where some of his students were Californian Impressionist Lucy Bacon , Paul Cezanne and Paul Gauguin.

...

During his lifetime, Camille Pissarro sold few of his paintings. By 2005, however, some Pissarro paintings sold for around U.S. $4 million.

It surprises me that I love such scenes that he and Monet painted. They are soft and colorful. It is really the style that for me brings the painting to life that I love the most.
