Small World

My world feels small this morning. Cramped. Tight. Uncomfortable.

Words like these can make people feel uncomfortable, especially when they come from a pastor. But this is why Jesus came. There is so much more sin in this world then I could ever imagine. But this is why Jesus came. And when Jesus came, he immersed himself into the sinful world and yet remained without sin. This is the meaning of Christmas. This is what Jesus commissioned us to do. Luckily the other billion Christians are supposed to be doing this too.

The picture of God the Son taking on human flesh is blasphemous when you really think of it. Yet Jesus became sin. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us..." -- 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV).

Trying to make a metaphor for what Jesus did when He became a man is like trying to put a nuclear explosion into a cardboard box. It cannot be contained, and yet I must make the attempt. No wonder I feel small today.
