I ran across this quote yesterday, but couldn't post a comment either. I think I'll start to use it with my younger grandkids..."candy is dandy, but fruit makes you poop." Love it... bring on the Fuji apples! Thanks Brian
I couldn't get on yesterday either. Gene Wilder played Wonka in the movie, but was this quote in the book, or not? My daughter read the book a month ago, but I don't think she asked me about that sentence. She usually asks if she doesn't understand something and I'm sure that would have confused a 7 year old.

Sounds like something W.C. Fields might have said....or an even better guess might be Mae West. They were both a little raunchy for their time.
Good guess, and I'm not sure they didn't say it, but it is NOT the movie quote I'm looking for.
That had to be Willy Wonka, wasn't it?

Hey, I had trouble posting a comment yesterday too. Apparently I just WANTED IT MORE! I won this thing fair and square. ;)
I am up for your challenge, Pressing On. However, with a name like that, I admit to being a little intimidated. :)
