Goodness on American Idol III

There are plenty of things to criticize about American Idol, but that isn't my goal. AI is the epitome of the pop culture and the greatness of the process (as thought in pop culture) is to go from zero to hero out of nowhere, which is exactly what last year's winner did. It is obsessed with critique and drama.

What struck me good about the process is the opportunity given to these kids to sing with the best band they will probably ever sing with, to have coaches for voice and wardrobe, to get to sing on a huge stage with television and all. It is an opportunity to learn. The lesson here for us is to see the opportunities to learn, not the opportunities as chances to rise above or escape. Many individuals (this is a guess based on human nature) on this show are so focused on being the one that anything less is unacceptable.

We need to learn to learn from the difficult moments. What an opportunity!
